Emeka Onyia is a seasoned leader in digital banking and innovation, currently serving as the Director Digital Banking at Afreximbank. At Afreximbank, he has been instrumental in advancing the Bank’s innovation agenda, successfully driving digital transformation initiatives that align with strategic objectives to promote intra-African trade.

Since joining Afreximbank, Emeka has held several key positions, including Head of Innovation (Digital Banking), Senior Manager of Innovation and Product Development and Manager of Innovation and Product Development. Throughout his career at the bank, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in driving innovation and developing impactful digital solutions.

Emeka holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng.) in Electronic and Software Engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK, and a Master of Science (MSc.) in Engineering Business Management from the University of Warwick, UK. Prior to his tenure at Afreximbank, he gained extensive experience in digital business and payments through roles at leading institutions such as the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), Visa Europe and Accenture UK.
