Mr. Shawky has more than three decades of comprehensive experience and contributions in the financial markets and investment industry, including product innovation, regulatory framework development, and Corporate Governance.
Mr. Shawky is the co-founder and chairman of the 1st SPAC in Egypt, which is to be listed on the Egyptian Exchange. Mr. Shawky is also Chairman of Egytrans, a listed company on the Egyptian Exchange representing the logistics sector. Earlier, Mr. Shawky was the Executive Chairman of Beltone Financial Holding -– a leading investment bank in Egypt.
Previously, Mr. Shawky served as Executive Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange from 2005 to 2010, following a term as deputy chairman.
Earlier, he spent almost a decade as an advisor to the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade for capital markets reforms and developments (1994-2004).
