Cyprus International Business Association:

The Cyprus International Businesses Association (CIBA) was established on 31 December 1992 as a registered not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.

CIBA came to existence on the initiative of a number of expatriate business executives who had moved their international operations to Cyprus in order to benefit from the island’s strategic location, bridging Europe to the Middle East, Africa and the Far East, as well as to take advantage of the island’s relaxed atmosphere and Mediterranean climate and its rather simple but competitive and effective tax regime.
Since then, CIBA has been active as a non-governmental independent Association relying exclusively on membership fees and on sponsorship income from the promotion of members through its website.

CIBA’S daily operations and activities are organized and carried out by its Secretariat and an Executive Committee of 12 persons who are all executives of member companies. All executive committee members are volunteers and do not receive any compensation for their time and service. They are all elected by the Members and meet at least once a month. Ever since its creation, CIBA has gone to great lengths to represent and safeguard the interests of the international businesses, their international shareholders, managers and staff. In this respect it has established a close cooperation with other private sector and- semi-governmental organisations, such as Cyprus Chamber Of Commerce and Industry, Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation, the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus, The Cyprus Fiduciary Association, the Cyprus Bar Association and Invest Cyprus.

Anthony Mudd

Co-founder and Director, Billion-air

Presentation Title: Presentation by BillionAir

Anthony James Mudd is the co-founder of billion-air, a company aimed at preventing a billion tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2030. He first became interested in the environment and sustainability whilst in school and decided to pursue his passion into higher education, he is a graduate of the University of York with a BSC in Environmental Geography. While at university, he realised that the approach to solving the climate crisis needed to take a new direction into the private sector.  He shared his thoughts with his father, a fund manager, about the impact sustainable investments can have on a company’s carbon footprint and from there billion-air was born.

They aim to prevent a billion-tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions by making the adaptation of environmentally responsible practices a finically attractive endeavour.  Anthony took a new approach to carbon offsetting bundling projects into a portfolio that matches 10 UN sustainable development goals aimed at improving companies CSR credentials. Not only do the credits offset ones carbon footprint but also fund a “green pool” which will be a key driver of innovation in the worlds decarbonisation effort. Within his first 12 months in the industry has secured clients from a range of industries including WTC Cyprus. He claims this is just the beginning and the time to deploy billion-air across Europe is NOW!

Billion-air:

Billionair, founded in the UK by entrepreneur Kevin Mudd, envisages building a better tomorrow by calculating today; in association with FECIF this initiative brings together the Public, Environmental Scientists, Fund Managers and Financial Advisers with the aim of reducing emissions of CO2 by one billion  metric tons by 2030.

They are creating a space to help people make environmentally responsible choices and adopt eco-friendly practices by re-examining and realigning their investment portfolios, carbon offsetting, education towards low-carbon lifestyle and participation in community events to protect the planet for future generations.
