DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY INTO GHANA

  • To enter Ghana, a valid passport is required by all nationals
  • Visas for Ghana (or entry permits for Commonwealth citizens) are required by all nationals
  • All travelers must carry a yellow fever vaccination certificate for entry into Ghana

  • Applicant’s passport photographs should have been taken not more than three months prior to the date of submission
  • Applicant should attach a copy of a return ticket or print-out of travel itinerary
  • An international certificate of vaccination for Yellow Fever
  • Applicant’s passport must have validity of at least six (6) months

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

Arriving Passengers ‑ Travelers Entering Ghana

Persons 18 years and above arriving in Ghana will be required to provide evidence of full vaccination for a COVID‑19 vaccine at the point of embarkation and upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

  • Fully vaccinated will be exempted from pre‑departure COVID‑19 PCR testing from point of embarkation.
  • Fully vaccinated will be exempted from COVID‑19 testing upon arrival at the KIA.
  • Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated will be required to present a negative COVID‑19 PCR test result taken no more than 48hrs before departure, before embarkation and upon arrival.
  • Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated will undergo COVID‑19 testing at the KIA upon arrival.
  • Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated will be undergo COVID‑19 vaccination at KIA upon arrival.

Payment for the test must be made online and proof of payment (receipt) must be presented at check in. The cost for Ghanaians and ECOWAS citizens is USD $50 and for foreign residents is USD $150

All partially vaccinated or unvaccinated Ghanaians and Foreign Residents travelling to Ghana are required to take a COVID-19 test from accredited labs on the PanaBIOS or Global Haven registry, and verify their results via the Trusted Travel platform before check in. The Travel Code issued online must presented at check in to confirm that the results are still valid at the time of travel.

Definition of fully vaccinated: A person is said to be fully vaccinated when they have taken the full dose of vaccines approved and registered by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Ghana. The first dose of Johnson and Johnson and a second dose of all other approved vaccines should be taken at least 14 days prior to embarkation to qualify as fully vaccinated.

Passengers who have been vaccinated with vaccines on the WHO Emergency Use Listing, but not registered by FDA Ghana for use will be offered one of the FDA Ghana approved vaccines on arrival at the airport.

Requirements for check in at Kotoka International Airport

  • Covid-19 vaccination documentation or a signed, stamped original printed copy of a negative COVID‑19 RT PCR test certificate, where required with a scannable QR code. The test must be conducted at one of the specified 5 approved facilities.
