As a young entrepreneur, M.R. Jaishankar established Brigade Group in 1986. His company has developed many landmark buildings and transformed the city skylines of Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, and Ahmedabad (Gift City). Under Mr. Jaishankar’s leadership, the company has completed over 280 buildings, amounting to more than 83 million sq. ft of developed space across a diverse real estate portfolio.
Mr. Jaishankar is the founder and lifetime trustee of the Brigade Foundation, a not-for-profit trust focused on Education, Health, and Community Development. He is also the founder of the Indian Music Experience (IME) — a monumental and philanthropic initiative that is India’s only hi-tech interactive music museum.
Over the years, he has been consistently recognized by various industry organizations and media houses for his outstanding contributions to the Indian real estate industry. Known for maintaining the highest standards of integrity, his sharp business acumen, visionary ideas, and humble nature have created a brand of outstanding repute.
In April 2022, he was conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Bangalore City University for his extraordinary achievements and notable service to society. In September 2022, Mr. Jaishankar was awarded the ‘Bharat Ratna’ Sir M Visvesvaraya Award by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI).
Mr. Jaishankar has served as the Past President of CREDAI Karnataka (formerly known as KOAPA, Karnataka Ownership Apartments Promoters’ Association), Past President of the Rotary Club of Bangalore Midtown, and was a former Director on the Board of Public Affairs Centre, a leading NGO. He has also been involved in many committees including BCIC (Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Bangalore.
