Honorable Sri. Siddaramaiah is an Indian politician who has been serving as the 22nd Chief
Minister of Karnataka since 2023. He previously held the position from 2013 to
2018, and is the second person in history to hold that office for a full five-year
term. Sri. Siddaramaiah was born on August 12, 1948 in Siddaramana Hundi, a
remote village in Varuna Hobli of the Mysore District.

Sri. Siddaramaiah graduated from Mysore University with a Bachelor of Science
degree. Later, he pursued his Law degree from Mysore University and began his
Law profession for some time.

Contesting on the Bharatia Lok Dal Party, he entered the 7th Karnataka
Legislative Assembly as its Member in 1983 from the Chamundeshwari Assembly
Constituency in the Mysore District. Later, he became Minister of State for
Sericulture. He was elected again in the 1994 general elections to the Karnataka
Legislative Assembly from the same constituency. He became Deputy Chief
Minister having the portfolio of Finance & Excise, to which he responded very
quickly by rising to the occasion. He was elected as Janata Dal Party President
and served from 1999 to 2004.

Sri. Siddaramaiah was triumphant during the August 2004 assembly elections
and was adorned as Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka with Finance & Excise
portfolios. After joining the Congress Party, he contested the by-election from his
same Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency, in which he won.

He was appointed as KPCC Publicity Committee Chairman during the general
elections in 2008. He has also served as Leader of the Congress Legislature
Party in Karnataka and Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly.
