Speaker Bio
Josh Shapiro is the 48th Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, leading one of the United States’ most dynamic and globally connected state economies.
Since taking office in January 2023, Governor Shapiro has focused on building a more competitive, inclusive, and opportunity-driven Pennsylvania—bringing together leaders across government, business, labor, and communities to deliver results. Despite working with the only politically divided legislature in the nation, he has advanced bipartisan solutions that strengthen workforce development, expand economic opportunity, and position Pennsylvania for long-term growth.
Governor Shapiro has made workforce readiness and economic mobility central to his agenda. On his first day in office, he signed an executive order opening 92 percent of state government jobs to people without a college degree—recognizing that skills, experience, and talent are critical to building a modern workforce. He has also prioritized innovation, infrastructure, and job creation to ensure Pennsylvania remains a leading destination for business investment and global trade.
Committed to making Pennsylvania a place where people and businesses can thrive, Governor Shapiro has championed policies that promote fairness, opportunity, and resilience—while strengthening the foundations for sustainable economic development. His administration continues to focus on modernizing government, supporting small businesses, and creating pathways for Pennsylvanians to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy.
As Governor, he has traveled across the Commonwealth to engage directly with business leaders, workers, educators, and community organizations—ensuring that growth and opportunity reach every region of Pennsylvania.
Governor Shapiro builds on a distinguished public service career that includes serving as Pennsylvania’s Attorney General from 2017 to 2023, where he protected consumers, defended voting rights, held corporations accountable, and led a landmark investigation into sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. He previously served as Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners (2011–2017) and as a State Representative (2005–2011).
A lifelong Pennsylvanian, Governor Shapiro was inspired to enter public service by his parents—his father, a pediatrician and U.S. Navy veteran, and his mother, a retired educator—whose commitment to community shaped his values and leadership.
