🛂 Entry Regulations
Traveling to the United States (As of May 2025): What You Need to Know
Visa Waiver Program (VWP) and ESTA
Citizens of 41 countries can travel to the U.S. for tourism or business for up to 90 days without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). However, travelers must obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval before boarding a U.S.-bound air or sea carrier. ESTA is an automated system that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the VWP.Â
For more information and to apply for ESTA, visit the official ESTA website.Â
Â
🛂 Visa Requirements
Travelers from countries not participating in the VWP, or those ineligible for ESTA, must obtain a B-1 (business) or B-2 (tourism) visa prior to travel. This includes citizens of countries like India, who are not part of the VWP.Â
For detailed information on visa types and application procedures, visit the U.S. Visas page.
Â
🛂 Security and Screening
Travelers should be prepared for enhanced screening procedures upon arrival in the United States, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers may conduct thorough inspections, including questioning about the purpose of the visit and examination of electronic devices. It’s advisable to ensure that all documentation is in order and to be ready to explain the nature of your visit clearly.Â
Â
🛂 Vaccination Requirements
As of March 11, 2025, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has removed the requirement for immigrant visa applicants to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. However, it’s recommended that all travelers are up to date on routine vaccinations. For personalized health recommendations, consult the CDC Travelers’ Health website.
Note: Entry requirements can change. Please consult the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Customs and Border Protection websites for the most current information before traveling.
