Dr Rebecca L Grant earned her undergraduate and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Tuskegee University before beginning her career in small animal medicine at a clinic in Knoxville, TN. She later pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in Laboratory Animal Medicine at Johnson & Johnson and went on to spend over 13 years at the University of Pennsylvania, where she directed the Nonhuman Primate Research Program within the Gene Therapy Program.

After transitioning into teaching, Rebecca returned to research at Emory University and Georgia Tech, contributing to studies on mild traumatic brain injury in youth. She later held leadership roles in Philadelphia with Charles River Laboratories, Cambridge Innovation Centers, and the City of Philadelphia.

Now with the Philadelphia Department of Commerce, Dr Grant supports life sciences companies looking to grow or establish a presence in the city. She is passionate about advancing the field and proud to contribute to Philadelphia’s innovation ecosystem. Rebecca’s motto is “Catch up to the future in Philadelphia!”
