David L. Cohen served as U.S. Ambassador to Canada from 2021 to 2025. Before his diplomatic role, he was Senior EVP and Senior Advisor to the CEO at Comcast NBCUniversal, a Fortune 50 company, where he also served as the company’s first Chief Diversity Officer. Earlier, he was Chair of Ballard Spahr LLP and Chief of Staff to Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell.

As a civic advocate and business leader, Cohen has served on and chaired numerous nonprofit and corporate boards, including the University of Pennsylvania, City Year, and the National Urban League. He has been extensively honored, including receiving six honorary degrees. Cohen has a B.A. from Swarthmore, and a J.D., summa cum laude, from Penn Law. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife, Rhonda R. Cohen.
